Here is the place, here the way unfolds –says Zen Master Dōgen. Much of Zen is about recognizing that if we just embrace what’s here right now, we are on track already. As a famous kōan puts it: Ordinary mind is the way. This all-embracing attitude is what we find in Tantric traditions too. Tantra invites us to come and be as we are, to consider everything worthy of recognition and experience.
This workshop is about mindfulness. Once again, we are bringing together our love for Zen and Tantra. We will begin with meditation and then turn to those around us. In tantric encounters, we will breathe together and, if wished for, acknowledge each other with simple mindful touch.
What again is mindfulness? It’s about noticing what’s there right now. But that’s nothing so special. To be totally mindless would be more astonishing. We naturally notice a lot. It’s just that we then add something extra to it: we add judgment and interpretation, we grasp or push away. So, in this workshop, while tending to our sitting and walking, our moving and meeting, we will try for once to do a little less.
